Dear Crofters,
On Tuesday 25th March, representatives of Croft, Culcheth & Glazebury and Winwick Parish Councils met to discuss recent proposed plans for the SRFI and Biogas facilities that will impact on our villages.
The three parish councils agreed to coordinate responses to these proposals, and we have enlisted the services of a planning consultant to provide an immediate response to the Parkside Tritax Big Box consultation on behalf of all three councils and their constituents.
This response details concerns around the use of green belt land, the scale of the proposed facility, its effect on the environment (including the nearby SSSI), traffic, and air, noise and light pollution. We have asked for proactive steps during the planning process to make sure that proper baselines are established and that any plans consider thoroughly on how to mitigate our concerns.
We also agreed next steps with regards to the Severn Trent Biogas proposals. Several of the Winwick parish councillors will attend a session at the Severn Trent North London facility in the coming weeks, and parish councillors from all three parishes are actively
talking to groups across the country for feedback around similar proposed and existing facilities.
We have committed to holding a public meeting, once plans have been submitted to WBC, where we will discuss your concerns on the proposal and provide information on how to provide feedback on the application. We have also agreed to establish an online petition in advance of the planning application to demonstrate the scale of public opinion on this matter. Please look out for information on this in the coming days but note that this will not be a substitute for individual objections to the plans once the process has started.
